Create Optimized LinkedIn Showcase Pages For Products and Services
I've said it before...I love LinkedIn. It's more powerful than most people understand, and one of the most uses you can leverage is to create a company page and associated showcase pages that can be optimized using your preferred keyword phrases you'd like to show up for on LinkedIn.
I previously showed you how to create a company page, so let's see how to set up optimized showcase pages. First, what is a showcase page?
These are individual pages that you can create to boost the visibility of individual products, services, units or divisions within your business. You're limited to 10, unfortunately, and for weird reason, you can only create two per day. I can't find an answer as to why this is, so we have to be Zen about it.
Anyways, let's get started. Go to LinkedIn and sign in, and in the top black bar, under "Interests," click on "Companies."
Once you get to the Companies page, if yours isn't listed, do a search and get your company page on the screen. On the right side at the top, click on the blue "Edit" button, and you'll see this:
Now you'll get the screen below to begin building your first show case page:
Use a keyword phrase to name your show case page and designate other administrators if you're not the only one who's going to maintain these pages.
Here's a "gotcha!!" you need to be on the look out for. Suppose you name the page as a popular, non-branded keyword phrase for the product or service? If you do that, here's what LinkedIn will display:
Yep...keyword phrases can only be used once. You can still use the term, but you'll need to wrap some other words around it. Here's what I had to do:
OK, now we get to main part of the showcase. Unlike a company page, you are limited to a 200 character description, much like a meta description for a web page or blog post. Using keyword prominence and proximity, create a compelling description and include a call to action.
You can add your images for each showcase page you create. On the right in the showcase page website URL, send your followers directly to the exact page you've created the page for. In other words, don't just dump everyone to your home page and hope they are motivated enough to root through your navigation scheme and find the exact product or service. Make it easy on them, umkay?
Select the proper industry, and you can also display your showcase pages under your company page.
Much like your company page, you can post updates about anything related to your specific page, so be sure to put some items in the stream on a regular basis.
I compare this to adding new web pages or blog posts to my site. It's a numbers game, and the more opportunities you create for your business to show up, the better your chances are of getting leads you can convert to sales from your LinkedIn profile.
So what are you waiting for? Do some keyword research, map out some compelling, optimized descriptions, and start creating showcase pages - two per day - until you've highlighted up to a max of ten pages for your products and services.
